At the end of 2016 a total of 45 new dwellings were completed in the Dutch town of Renkum, as the first houses meeting ‘BENG’ requirements for energy use. One of the main considerations in the design was the comfort of residents. Due to a highly insulated shell the houses incapsulate produced heat, reducing energy demands. With solar panels on the roofs, balanced ventilation with heat recovery and low temperature heating the resulting energy coefficient (EPC) is 0,0.
