tranquility and expression

How to design a landmark for a country that fully embraces the responsibility towards the environment and considers that a matter of utmost importance? How to design a building in a way that intensifies the existing qualities of Helsinki? The building aims to answer these questions in a poetic way: a strong gesture of tranquility to match the image of Finland and a great power of expression to match the image of Guggenheim. The design is modest yet exciting and refers to the shapes of the Finnish lakes. The opaque wavy skin refers to ice and snow. It connects seamlessly to the water with its subtle transparency and curves.
